Focusing on the needs of impoverished children is at the very root of the relationship between Food for the Hungry (FH) and Master’s Commission International Network (MCIN).  By finding suitable sponsers, a child can have all of their needs met every day with a recurring monthly donation of $32.

The goal is simple. Together, we hope to build a system with MCIN that will see tremendous amounts of sponsors throughout the United States based MCIN affiliates this academic year (Sept. – May).  Working together, FH will work 1 on 1 with each and every MCIN affiliate to insure we are equipped for our challenge.

With the infrastructure of Food for the Hungry and the nationwide network of Master’s Commission affiliates we know that working together, we can really change the world.

What does the walk look like? In short, it is coming alongside, helping and equipping:

Leaders: To solve problems in their community.

Churches: To meet the physical and spiritual needs in their community.

Families: To meet the physical and spiritual needs in their family.

This huge and staggering call from God is expressed well in Micah 6:8, a central passage that undergirds our walk with the poor.

“What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.”

In response to His call, and compelled by the love of Christ, Food for the Hungry goes to the hard places – places darkened by poverty, war and injustice – to bring hope and help to children, families and communities in the most impoverished countries around the world.

Food for the Hungry embraces an intensely personal and biblical response to God’s call to end physical and spiritual hungers worldwide. This intentional walk with the poor mirrors God’s walk with each of us, recognizing our own brokenness and His transforming grace that brings out our God-given potential.

Master’s Commission was born in the heart of Larry Kerychuk as a place where people of all walks of life could come, grow in their relationship with Christ and lay a biblical foundation upon which a lifetime of service to God could be built and lived out. Pastor Kerychuk, with Pastor Carmen Balsamo as director, began the Master’s Commission program in 1984 in Phoenix, Arizona. Trainees pledged one year of their lives to scripture memory, the study of the word, and ministry. After Carmen’s death, Rev. Lloyd Zeigler was appointed director.
